Quitbase Program - How To Stop Smoking Marijuana

We believe there are three stages to recovery from marijuana addiction. These are three stages that everyone goes through in order to get sober, whether or not they use Quitbase. We simply provide resources & support to make them easier.

You need to recognize that you have a problem. You need to get past withdrawals. You need to rebuild your brain, body, and life. In addition to providing online sponsors, Quitbase has broken down these three stages and designed tasks, homework, resources, and motivation in order to successfully get past each stage.

Writing down your problems by talking to your online sponsor is extremely therapeutic, but it’s so much more than that. If you’re willing to put in the effort, your sponsor will help take you through the three stages of recovery. You really can get sober, you’re not alone.

Stage 1 - Recognition

You can’t start working to get sober unless you recognize you have a problem. This stage focuses on recognizing your problems, understanding the reasons about why you want to quit smoking, and then taking one of the hardest steps towards quitting - getting rid of your drugs and paraphernalia.

Tasks

  • Recognize your problems
  • Talk to your sponsor about why you want to quit smoking. Write down your reasons so you can use them as motivation & accountability later on.
  • Throw or give away all your drugs and paraphernalia.

Stage 2 - Withdrawals

Here comes the hard part, getting past withdrawals. Most people don’t think marijuana is addicting, physically or mentally. Once you stop smoking for the first time, you’ll realize how untrue this is. Everyone experiences withdrawals, but to varying degrees. For some people they don’t even notice it, but for others they suck pretty bad. This stage starts by not smoking. You will learn about all the withdrawal symptoms, and towards the end of this stage you will be able to pass a drug test.

Tasks

  • Stop smoking marijuana.
  • Learn about the withdrawal symptoms.
  • Capable of passing a drug trest.

Stage 3 - Rebuilding

It’s honestly not that bad to get past withdrawals, which is part of the reason why so many people have quit for “10+ times”. The hard part is staying sober. There are two reasons for this.

First, after spending years smoking daily you have trained your brain to crave marijuana and easy access to dopamine. You have to retrain your brain to not crave marijuana anymore, otherwise you’ll keep fighting the urge to smoke until you give in. Quitbase provides free access to tools that provide a form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which helps you retrain your brain. Second, marijuana covers up other issues in your life which are usually a big reason why you are smoking. Now that you’re sober you can focus on whatever those issues are.

This stage focuses on retraining your brain, fixing underlying issues, and finding awesome new healthy habits to replace smoking marijuana. The beauty of being sober is that the rebuilding stage never ends. The time you once spent smoking marijuana can now be used to learn new skills, develop important relationships, and living an awesome life.

Tasks

  • Retrain your brain to not crave marijuana.
  • Fix any underlying issues.
  • Replace bad habits with good habits.
